This recipe delivers crispy, garlicky, and cheesy chicken thighs cooked in an air fryer for a quick, flavorful, and fuss-free dinner. Perfectly crispy skin with juicy meat inside, ideal for busy weeknights or dinner parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  1. Pat 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs dry with paper towels (5 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup grated Parmesan, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Mix well (3 minutes).
  3. Lightly spray the chicken thighs with olive oil spray. Press each thigh into the Parmesan mixture, ensuring the coating sticks to the skin and sides (7 minutes).
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) and let it heat for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place the coated thighs skin side down in the air fryer basket without touching. Cook for 12 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until skin is golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) (20-22 minutes).
  6. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute.

Notes

Pat chicken skin dry thoroughly to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even air circulation. Flip chicken halfway through cooking to maintain an even crisp. If skin is not crispy enough, add 2-3 minutes at 400°F (204°C) carefully. Leftovers reheat best in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to retain crispness.
