Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80/20 blend, 1.5 lbs / 680 g)
  • Hot dogs or sausages (12 links, about 1 lb / 450 g)
  • Quality burger buns (12 count, preferably Martinโ€™s Potato Rolls)
  • Hot dog buns (12 count)
  • Fresh corn on the cob (6 ears)
  • Cherry tomatoes (1 pint / 300 g)
  • Mixed greens (5 oz / 140 g bag)
  • Cucumber (1 large, sliced)
  • Red onion (1 medium, thinly sliced)
  • Ketchup (14 oz / 400 g bottle)
  • Mustard (yellow or Dijon, 8 oz / 225 g)
  • Mayonnaise (8 oz / 225 g, dairy-free if preferred)
  • Pickle slices (16 oz / 450 g jar)
  • Cheddar cheese slices (8 slices)
  • Butter (unsalted, 4 tbsp / 60 g)
  • Potato chips (1 large bag, about 10 oz / 280 g)
  • Fresh watermelon (1 small, seedless)
  • Marshmallows (for roasting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove ground beef and hot dogs from the fridge about 15 minutes before cooking to come closer to room temperature.
  2. Rinse cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and mixed greens. Slice cucumber and red onion thinly. Toss greens with a splash of olive oil and salt if desired.
  3. Remove husks and silk from corn ears. Brush each ear lightly with softened butter, sprinkle with salt, and wrap in aluminum foil.
  4. Form ground beef into 4-6 equal patties, about 4 ounces (115 g) each, pressing a small dimple in the center.
  5. Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  6. Cook burgers about 4 minutes per side for medium (internal temp about 160ยฐF / 71ยฐC). Cook hot dogs 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally.
  7. Grill foil-wrapped corn, turning every 5 minutes, for about 15 minutes until tender and lightly charred.
  8. Toast buns on the grill cut-side down for about 1 minute until golden and slightly crispy.
  9. Assemble burgers with buns, condiments, cheese slices (added while burgers are hot), onions, tomatoes, and pickles as desired.
  10. Arrange burgers, hot dogs, corn, chips, and sliced watermelon on serving platters and enjoy.

Notes

Use an 80/20 ground beef blend for juicy burgers. Lightly butter buns before toasting to prevent sogginess. Use a meat thermometer to ensure burgers reach 160ยฐF (71ยฐC). Wrap corn in foil to cook evenly and retain moisture. Multitask by prepping veggies while grilling. Store leftovers in airtight containers for 2-3 days and reheat gently to maintain juiciness.
